Today’s learning points…1. check whether your transverter is set for GPS locking and 2. If you turn the RF gain pot too far your transverter will go deaf. Turning it back a little will make it spring back to life and prevent time wasted fault finding 🤣

Gareth beat me to it - I think Mike may a 6600 on sats. I use a transverter for 2m but not sure I’m any help as I don’t have a 6600 or 8600.

Would have preferred a KX2 for size stuff but when was last time you saw one of those secondhand # RockingHorseShit - the KX3 does a bit more though and could be used for transverter type stuff which I have always wanted to try - any links to the ultramax battery?

Currently need to make one or two changes to the 23cm transverter setup as realised the 12v feed is a bodge. Also mulling over carrier bag options to cover the transverter and feed (a poshe Waitrose one is under consideration 🤣). Can explain more when I next see you. 2/2

Hi George, currently SM6FHZ feed, G4DDK VLNA (~30dB, 0.2dB NF), filter, SG Lab transverter (GPS locked), Anglian transverter, Flex. I may switch radio depending on how I get on with TX switching and interfacing my small @g4bao.bsky.social 23cm PA (a task for this week). 1/2

BTW, the reason I said transverter first is the MC145152 was very popular in transverters and the circuit's almost identical - I thought the VCO was running into a mixer - but it wasn't a mixer, it was that push-pull amplifier, which I'm kind of fascinated by - I'd love to know what that device is.

The board with the chips is a ham radio frequency converter (transverter, probably), I can't tell from where to where but possibly from 28MHz to 144MHz. The lower board is a power amplifier and possibly some changeover relays. Except… I'm a bit puzzled that it uses an RCA phono as the input jack.

It’s not even expensive equipment. High enough quality SDRs are cheap and one only needs a suitable transverter for the frequency in question. These are geostationary sats so a tripod and home built antenna can scoop the signals. You can build some neat antennas with copper tape.

So, the TS-430S has a transverter output jack which helpfully gives you all the TX/RX/PTT signals you need, and disables the on-board amplifier so you just use the transverter.
And I'm using one of those ukranian transverters from transverters-store (which has since shut down, cry.)

Ok, so the TS-670 QRP setup is working fine, and although 10W isn't a lot of power on 6W, it's a "adrian wants to build a collection of period radios" correct for the setup.
I'll have to go find or make a 100W 50MHz amplifier.
