Putting emotional distance between yourself and a traumatic event (inclusive of viewing footage of a traumatic event) is literally a major component of the healthy way to process any traumatic event
avoiding the video out of fear that it’ll make you feel bad is choosing to be numb. you’re making excuses for keeping an emotional distance between yourself and the event.

In our recently submitted grants we had to change “traumatic brain injury” to “concussive brain injury” and “male and female mice” to “male and non-male mice” because traumatic and female are now verboten words that can get our grants killed. It’s insanity.
