Trek was my first big fandom in the 2000s before I'd spend the next 15 or so in anime spaces before circling back, and it's been absolutely interesting contrasting my experiences on TrekBBS during ENT's run vs my experiences from '22 on out
00s internet was in many ways s wasteland; but in many, many more ways so much better than our current internet
Worth remembering it often wasn't a good place for queer people, women, and/or poc though

I’m convinced so much of the “Star Trek only works as episodic” was just nostalgia, if Trek can only “work” if it’s episodic then something is very wrong with Trek considering long form stories worked in the novels.

Propstore describing it "Rings like this encircled the warp core of the Enterprise" is not accurate - for a start its about 1/5 the size of the core rings.

The people who are harassing & threatening Alex Kurtzman for the new, interesting directions he’s taking Star Trek are the ones who preferred Star Trek when Rick Berman was in charge & not much needs to be said about Berman’s time in charge of the franchise.
Excellent video on the recent harassment and death threats targeted at Alex Kurtzman, and the wider scope of negativity and nastiness that is becoming more prevalent.

After wasting half my life on TrekBBS I've found this to be pretty common thought among Trek fans. A lot of them are just really awful people. Openly racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, etc. One guy was an actual Nazi who got banned after years of getting away with shit.

Man, I remember accidentally finding myself in the middle of drama between a guy on trekbbs and Doug Drexler over this ship. Anyway, surprised they didn’t use this ship since they had it on hand. Stuck in rock it probably would have looked ok.
