Somebody please perform a totally ethic and medically safe 1960's trepanation because I can't sleep and I go to work in about two hours.

got reading about trepanation as practiced across multiple cultures historically and the extremely funny fact that it was usually done at home with pretty good succes and recovery rates, and it was only when it got moved to hospital settings in the 19th century that things got Bad for patients
