It's not a terribly bad looking movie, with acting around par that you would expect and a few gory deaths to satisfy the billing. Overall, though, I find it hard to recommend. 4

If anything, the general look and feel of the movie is on the underwhelming side, but it has enough novelty in it to make it a decent genre fare. 6

A brand new day, same old Spider-Man. For better and worse. The movie is fun, introspective and pretty much irrelevant, but it does set up new tie-ins effectively. 7

The movie meta genre rarely offers delights, so I should have known this isn't High Fidelity for VHSes. And that's a shame, because Murphy and Liu are likable, but the way this thing is written is the definition of unfunny, unromantic cringe. 4

This one is meandering around so bad it's good territory, with just about enough character and song to keep it above the line. 5

The movie is unfortunately no masterpiece, but rather a minor entry that relies on the charm of its lead, Bruce Campbell. It's probably funnier on paper than it is on screen. 6

Coppola hones in on an outsider's perception of their reality, which is plausible and has dramatic follow-through. So this definitely works as a story and as a movie, helped by strong leads in Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi. 7
