Took trig and calculus in HS. I was *okay* at the beginner trig bundled with my algebra 2 class but it was my algebra that kept me from failing out. Luckily I was able to drop Calculus for an elective after my first test😂.

I was always a kid who got good grades and community college trig broke me. I got a 17% on my first test, a 31% on the second, and on the third, just stared down at the paper, cried, and walked out of class to withdraw that afternoon.

I like to see trig being first introduced (for calculations in right angled triangles) using the unit circle and similar triangles, rather than ratios/SOHCAHTOA. For this, you need tan to be a length.
