What is the most cursed object in your home? Ours is a heavily personally annotated book of Cheryl Strayed aphorisms that someone who thought she was much closer to my wife than she actually was gave her.

Leave nothing behind but trinitite.

I can’t prove it but either the Nuclear Museum incorporated some of my safety comments about Trinitite…

…or we both (me, having taught college students how to use condoms as a Peer Health educator) landed on not snorting & injecting Trinitite as important to mention.

Bits of Trinitite (fused sand from the first atomic bomb test) that my grandmother collected while she worked there during the war.

"toddler upset because I wouldn't let them play with a jar of Trinitite during a diaper change" is a real thing that just happened but scans as self-parody

Some friends made me a pair of Trinitite* earrings.

I don’t wear them because they’re in poor taste, not because they’re radioactive.

Granted, Trinitite was more radioactive in 1946 and still mostly alpha.

If you see a weird looking storm, stay inside! You may be at risk for trinitosis.

I also have some trinitite - melted radioactive desert sand from the site of the 'Trinity' test of the first nuclear weapon - but that's not especially rare I think?

I got a few pieces of trinitite from the first nuclear explosion in New Mexico as a reminder

Not just “mattered” but was probably decisive

Biden’s unwillingness to either crack down on Israel’s genocide or turn Gaza to a single flat sheet of trinitite contributed vastly to the public perception of him as a demented old man who wasn’t capable of doing what had to be done
wait so the war in israel actually mattered somehwat?

I have a piece of trinitite and (supposedly) a piece of the Berlin Wall, so I can hold the beginning and end of the Cold War in one hand.

Obligatory Trinitite sample at the Albuquerque Museum.

You can view video & photos of Trinity site—showing extent of Trinitite (IN COLOR!)—that I got through FOIA, here: flickr.com/photos/20058...

Contrary to Trinitite card, there is no “Trinity, NM”; test occurred nearest to Socorro.

Then tax the trinitite.

Mark Zuckerberg has a vision for how A.I. could be used in Meta's universe.

But the actor and filmmaker Joseph Gordon-Levitt is here to point out a flaw in the technology: an apparent lack of guardrails around how the company's chatbot interacts with underage users. nyti.ms/3ILwCNo
