Researchers randomly assigned 1,407 adults with obesity, but not diabetes, to a triple-strength weekly dose of semaglutide, the standard 2.4 mg dose, or placebo—all alongside diet and activity counseling—then tracked weight, waist size, and side effects for 72 weeks at 95 clinics in 11 countries.

Corporate Profits and Employee Welfare SOAR
Between 2020 and 2025, Amazon's profits increased from 11.6 billion to 77.7 billion, while during that same timeframe, the number of people employed by Amazon who were on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) tripled! In what world do we have corporations where profits increase 7 times over while employees eligible for federal welfare triple at the same time!! This is absolutely crazy to fathom, and our current economic trajectory CANNOT continue. We have some serious problems on the horizon. The Forbes article is here: https://fortune.com/2026/09/13/amazon-workers-food-stamps-tripled-record-revenue-labor-share/ The Congress link is here: https://www.congress.gov/119/meeting/house/119516/documents/HHRG-119-JU01-20260901-SD042-U42.pdf In either case, there is a SERIOUS problem with the economy when massive companies are THIS wealthy while employees are 130% below the federal poverty line - and this qualifies for government assistance. Shoplifting arrest every 10 minutes as arrests soar 158 per cent in five years
Shoplifting arrests have tripled in just five years as Britain battles a retail crime epidemic, shock new figures reveal. More than 52,000 arrests were recorded by police forces providing data last year - equivalent to 144 a day or one every 10 minutes. ### An analysis of Freedom of Information responses found shoplifting arrests soared from 20,253 in 2021 to 52,409 in 2025 - a rise of 158 per cent. The new figures, based on an analysis of 32 responses from police forces - 82 percent of the total - reveal the scale of the problem faced by government and crime forces - particularly from persistent offenders. ### TRENDING Stories Videos Your Say ### Around one in four shoplifting arrests recorded during the five-year period were classified as repeat arrests. In Hertfordshire, as many as 80 per cent of shoplifting arrests were recorded as repeats, while almost two-thirds of the Metropolitan Police’s 21,925 arrests were repeats. Each had committed at least 31 offences before eventually receiving a custodial sentence, prompting calls for repeat shoplifters to be brought before fast-track courts within 72 hours of being charged. Retailers say thieves are increasingly targeting goods which can easily be sold on - including meat, cheese, alcohol, coffee and other higher-value products - while organised gangs systematically move between stores. ### ### ### The British Retail Consortium says organised criminal groups are exploiting online resale markets and weaknesses in enforcement, with repeat offenders becoming increasingly brazen. The scale of the problem has forced some shops to change the way they operate. Convenience store Greggs has begun putting food and drink behind theft-proof counters at problem stores, removing self-service displays to stop thieves walking in and helping themselves. Earlier this year, a serial shoplifter nicknamed “Hamster” by Greggs workers admitted stealing almost £2,000 worth of food from the same Greenford branch in just six weeks. ### LATEST DEVELOPMENTS * Green quango faces backlash from cross-bench MPs over £95million HS2 'bat tunnel' * Britain's trust in science plunges as Covid response comes under scrutiny * Leading Oxford scientist issues worldwide plague warning after mysterious Russian lab worker's death ### ### Adam Gosling, 39, targeted the shop 38 times between December and February, sometimes returning more than once in a day. Experts say the motivations behind Britain’s shoplifting surge are varied and complex. Police and retailers increasingly distinguish between opportunistic theft, people stealing because of financial hardship or addiction, and professional thieves stealing large quantities of goods for resale. The UKAT Group, which analysed the figures, says substance misuse, gambling and mental health problems can also lie behind persistent offending - while for some offenders the act of stealing itself can become compulsive. ### ### Zaheen Ahmed, Head of Therapy at addiction treatment providers The UKAT Group, said: “These figures paint a stark picture of how dramatically shoplifting has escalated over the past five years. “What may once have been viewed as a relatively low-level retail crime has become a persistent and growing problem for businesses, staff, police forces and communities across the country. “Perhaps most concerning is the scale of repeat arrests. One in four arrests across the five-year period was classified as a repeat arrest, while some individual forces recorded extraordinarily high proportions. ### ### “These figures raise important questions about what is driving persistent shoplifting behaviour and what support is available to people repeatedly caught in the cycle.” He added: “Shoplifting can have a range of underlying causes, including financial hardship, substance misuse, gambling, mental health difficulties and other forms of compulsive or problematic behaviour. For some, shoplifting itself is the dopamine rush, and that is what they become addicted to. “Simply treating each incident as an isolated crime risks overlooking the wider issues that may be contributing to repeated offending.” The findings come as the Government prepares a major crackdown on shop theft under the new Crime and Policing Act. The legislation, which received Royal Assent in April, will scrap the controversial £200 threshold which meant low-value shoplifting was generally treated as a summary offence. It will also create a specific offence of assaulting a retail worker, carrying up to six months in jail, and give courts powers which could see persistent offenders banned from shops. But the key measures have not come into force and no date has yet been announced. A government spokesperson said: "We are giving police the powers they need to crack down on shop theft, including scrapping the £200 rule which let too many offenders off the hook." "Shop theft is down on last year and charges are up 19 per cent. Police force funding this year is at a historic high of £18.5billion, and more than 3,800 additional neighbourhood officers are in role." ### **Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter**

Schatz: The reason that people were frustrated with Joe Biden was that the cost of everything was too high... And one of the reasons that people are pissed off at Trump is that the cost of everything is even higher, and he did it on purpose, and he can’t explain himself.

Novig doubles down on Sydney Sweeney as brand grows
Novig is doubling down on its provocative Sydney Sweeney campaign, rolling out a second spot as the sports prediction platform reports a sharp increase in trading volume, app downloads and new users following the first wave of creative. The new ad, “No BS,” continues the stripped-down visual style introduced in September’s “Just Sports” spot, once again putting Sweeney front and center while pushing harder on Novig’s point of difference: unlike broader prediction platforms such as Kalshi and Polymarket, Novig focuses exclusively on sports.
