once again there is a huge overlap in the rhetorical tropes of ableism and the rhetorical tropes of old-school homophobia and the rhetorical tropes of anti-transness-- i think it's interesting how these all echo and feed off one other
The mythology of the changeling where a fairy replaces a baby with an identical but intangibly "wrong" copy is easily read as queer bc the phenomena of parents feeling like their child failing to live up to their idealized image is a murder/replacement is a tale as old as time!

I like looking at TV tropes after a movie for fun trivia and my gf was like "haha my TV tropes girlfriend" and I turned to her was like "you have a tv tropes tab open right fucking now" and she looked horrified and turned her laptop to me. And it was the TV tropes page for the movie we just watched

I'm the token expert voice saying that inconsistencies in victim's narratives are common in an otherwise brutally bad piece of journalism full of tropes about how not to report on sexual assault.

"Do your best to avoid tropes"
This one annoys me because there are tropes I 1000% see coming and it still makes for good television.
What matters isn't that you see a tropes being predictable but how interestingly those tropes are being utilized.
