„Vom späten Hochsommer in den Frühherbst.“ (C. Schwanke)

Das wird nochmals ein außergewöhnlich warmer Tag morgen von Spanien bis Skandinavien. Bis 30 Grad am Rhein nach einer sehr warmen Nacht.

Und auch bei uns gibt’s noch Sommertage… Und das Ende September.

TropicalTidbits (tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/hsa...) page based on newest NMME forecast shows a very inactive Atlantic hurricane season due to a strong El Niño. Activity in analog years (1972, 1982, 1994, 1997, 2015) was reduced across the MDR, Gulf, and Caribbean, but higher for Hawaii.

If y'all wanna become a weather nerd, now's a Good time to watch Convective Chronicles, Storm Chaser Coaching, and Pecos Hank on Youtube.

I also recommend checking out Pivotal Weather, TropicalTidbits, and getting a proper radar app like Radarscope, RadarOmega, Weatherfront, or Weatherwise.

Between the ramping up of election news, and model runs for Colorado snowstorm potential, why even try to sleep? Cheers to TropicalTidbits and FiveThirtyEight.

Thanks for the feedback! A few comments:
- based on the results I’ll add the full superensemble viewer first
- all 3 will be added eventually
- the recon data viewer isn’t replicating what CyclonicWx & TropicalTidbits already do — they’re excellent resources as is

It’s still pretty far out but I am closely watching this signal on some of the Ensemble models for the Caribbean during the first week of November

Model RAP soundings at 3pm near Tri-Cities show steep 850-500mb lapse rates atop a shallow surface inversion (better depicted on @tropicaltidbits sounding). Certainly enough instability for a few lightning strikes. DCAPE near 400 J/kg, so potential to mix down some strong gusts #wawx

According to Dr. Cowan, TropicalTidbits will be down for much-needed maintenance tonight.

Consider these alternatives:

🔸 CyclonicWX: cyclonicwx.com

🔸 Weathernerds: www.weathernerds.org

🔸 Tomer Burg's page: arctic.som.ou/edu/tburg/pr...

🔸 NCAR: hurricanes.ral.ucar.edu/realtime/cur...

Shocking, the damage #Melissa is causing in Jamaica, but hopefully it will avoid any other landfalls.

A quick heads up on some tropical weather social media posts you may see around this time of year. The GFS (U.S.) model is known to over-intensify storms in the western Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico in May and June. This means sometimes it will show a strong hurricane developing ~7+ days out,

The 942hPa "bomb" cyclone roaring tonight off the west coast of N. America features a clear warm seclusion, making it a "warm-core" storm of non-tropical nature.

Downward-bending isentropes mark the warm core at the center. Winds around it decrease with height, following the thermal wind law (1/7)
