Tropospheric Water Vapor increases because of warming and is therefore a possitive FEEDBACK, amplifying warming from forcings.

Stratospheric Water Vapor and tropospheric ozone are FORCINGS, because they form (mainly) because of methane emissions.

Global warming acceleration in satellite observed lower-tropospheric temperature
We analyze accelerated global warming over 1981–2025 using satellite-derived lower-tropospheric temperature (TLT) data and examine its relationship to the pronounced warming observed during 2023–2024....

Not peer-reviewed yet, but if it is then we are in the deepest of deep sh*t

Warming of almost half a degree C a decade and 0.5 to 1C rise possible within the next decade

okay yknow what this is actually interesting, this part. this is factors that can influence propagation such as sunspots, the northern lights, tropospheric ducting, sporadic e-clouds in the ionosphere, all kinds of random stuff

For the layman, (relative) warm blocking in the Arctic “displaces” the tropospheric Polar Vortex, forcing cold southward into the US.

'Global warming acceleration in satellite observed lower-tropospheric temperature' (Preprint)

"Projections based on the accelerated trend estimates suggest the potential for an additional 0.5–1.0°C of warming within the next decade [...] roughly three to five times the 1981–2024 linear trend."

And, if you prefer more details, then a graphic with a more complete range of indicators is also available, including Arctic sea ice, ocean heat content, tropospheric temperatures, cherry blossom dates and humidity over land.

All aboard the Polar Express!! The tropospheric polar vortex will deliver frigid blasts in the eastern/ northern US for the next ~2 weeks and several chances of #snow. #cold #winter #fyp #polarexpress #polarvortex

As the climate data for 2024 continues to arrive, I've updated my graphic showing changes in various climate indicators for the recent past, and the last 2000 years.

Most notable change is a big jump for tropospheric temperatures (TLT) in 2024.

[Sea level and land humidity data not yet available.]

Also strong tropospheric ducting in the Baltics so especially a lot of traffic right now.

See (e) from this other IPCC figure.

Most of the tropospheric ozone forcing can also be attributed to methane emissions.
April 1, 2026 at 7:37 AM
🚨 Using IPCC methodology, the total greenhouse gas forcing in 2025 was 4.11 W/m²‼️

That's equal to a doubling of CO₂ relative to pre-industrial.

Why is this not clearly being communicated?

Why is the strong TROPOSPHERIC ozone forcing omitted?
June 12, 2026 at 8:16 PM
These are greenhouse gas CO₂ equivalents from @noaa.gov, excluding the forcings of tropospheric ozone and stratospheric water vapor.

Including all greenhouse gases, we are already at ~560 ppm CO₂ equivalent.

That's a doubling from preindustrial levels.

Excluding the dimming of aerosols.

What’s driving the upcoming record breaking cold snap?? It’s widespread warmth (up-to 30F above normal) and intense blocking in the Arctic/ Greenland/N Canada.
That is squeezing out the (tropospheric) Cold Polar Vortex and forcing it south deep into the US… 1/

👀 Today, the command post of the 66th Russian command brigade (military unit 41600, Stavropol) was struck in Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region.

🔥 Tropospheric communication station (probably R-412) and a power supply station (probably E-351br) were destroyed.

Is the polar vortex responsible for the current cold snap over much of the U.S.?

Dust and Marine Halogens Team Up to Destroy Tropospheric Ozone - Eos
Mineral dust-activated halogen chemistry is an important yet under-studied natural sink of the tropospheric ozone with implications for the Earth’s oxidative balance, crop yields, and human health.

Out in Science Advances today, our new paper (led by E. Bednarz) shows that even a tropospheric climate intervention method like marine cloud brightening could affect the stratospheric ozone layer.

How marine cloud brightening could also affect stratospheric ozone
Impacts of tropospheric climate intervention methods can also reach the stratosphere and affect the ozone layer.

New Satellite data reveals Earth heating up by astounding 0.48 degrees C per decade since 2015
Almost 3 times more than +0.18 degrees C warming per decade from 1970-2010
This could push us toward plus 3 C of warming by 2050 in which billions will die
