#TrueBelieverTuesday Defenders 124, cover by Sandy Plunkett. Unlike many fans, I really enjoyed this era of the book. #Marvel #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday Patsy & Hedy 85, cover by Al Hartley. Back in the times when #Marvel did more than just super-heroes. #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday Amazing Spider-Man 39, cover by John Romita Sr. Iconic for a reason. @Marvel

#TrueBelieverTuesday X-Men 59, cover by Neal Adams. With so many career highs, I sometimes feel like Adams' work on this title gets less of the spotlight, but for me it's among his very best. #Marvel #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday Amazing Spider-Man 89, cover by John Romita. Romita Sr. really defined and set the standard for what Spider-man looked like for decades. Nothing against Ditko, but he's not a model most can emulate. #Marvel #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday Avengers 146, cover by Gil Kane. Just jumps off the rack. #Marvel #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday Captain America 168, cover by Sal Buscema. I remember this mostly from the Power Records version I had as a kid. #Marvel #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday Daredevil 132, cover by Rich Buckler & Dan Adkins. These rarely showed up on the stands near me or in those 3-packs, so I really only saw DD as a guest star. #Marvel #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday Rawhide Kid 31, cover by Jack Kirby. The problems of history have made the mythology of the Western fall out of the popularity it once had. I see it like Arthurian tales: an alternate history that says more about the author than about historical fact. #Marvel #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday Incredible Hulk 423, cover by Gary Frank and Cam Smith. Peter David managed a truly epic run on the book by taking it in so many directions over that time. I'm kind of fond of the Pantheon era. #Marvel #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday Warlock 12, cover by Jim Starlin. Starlin pretty much defined Marvel's cosmic heroes in the 70s. Don't think latter-day attempts even come close, even his own. @Marvel

#TrueBelieverTuesday Tales to Astonish 38, cover by Jack Kirby et al. I love both Hank Pym and Scott Lang Ant-Man. These early tales always feel like a mashup pf 50s giant monster flix and super-heroes. #Marvel #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday Incredible Hulk 4, cover by Jack Kirby & Dick Ayers. TBH, I never quite got into the 60s Hulk that much. Its formula really never gelled for me. #Marvel #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday Jungle Action 8, cover by Rich Buckler and Frank Giacoia. I do have a fondness for this sometime Avenger. And hard to beat the simple lines of that costume. #Marvel

#TrueBelieverTuesday Gunsmoke Western 73, cover atist unknown. Back in days of yore, when all sorts of comics were commonplace in the mainstream. #Marvel

#TrueBelieverTuesday Fantastic Four 9, cover by Jack Kirby. This series is the foundation of the whole shebang. #Marvel #comics
April 2, 2024 at 12:05 PM
#TrueBelieverTuesday Amazing Spider-Man 149, cover by Gil Kane. Ah, the roots of that pesky Clone Saga that caused such an uproar. I'm an iconoclast, so I still loved Ben being the real Spider-man. #Marvel #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday My Love 1, cover artist unknown. Setting the wayback machine WAY back to before the publisher really became what we think of as the modern #Marvel. #comics
