Frankly, the US’s immigration system under Trump is now more progressive than many European progressive nations.

They are rather right-wing. Trumpist parties (Truefinns, Christian Democrats) are part of the govt.
Finland has gotten much closer to US when it comes to defence contracts. F-35s have been bought but not received. It plays a role ofc too.
But I am biased too, I strongly dislike the current govt.
