I'm going on vacation, so this one is for #TurretTuesday and #FormerTavernFriday. 4558 S. Marshfield, Chicago, 1905.
Two-story brick and frame apartment building that has seen better days. The brick on the first story is covered with beige siding that has been painted white in a couple of spots. The first floor windows have peeling paint and broken screens. There is a polygonal turret on the corner of the second floor on the left side that is covered in beige siding. Dark brown brick is visible to the right of the turret and there is a fancy little dormer poking out of the roof. The dormer has an arched copper pediment with a green patina and a large flower inside the arch. The pediment is topped with a 3-tiered finial also with a green patina.

Three-story tan brick corner building in the Second Empire style (sort of). There is a rectangular pressed metal or wood turret on the corner, extending from the second floor upward. The turret has a pyramidal-shaped slate roof topped with a decorative cap. The letters NBT, MCN, and SCN are attached to a small panel at the base of the turret roof. The turret itself is decorated with cornices, brackets, and lots of gingerbread.

Two-story red brick corner building, built to have a store on the first floor and apartments above. The first floor space is currently unoccupied. There is a round turret on the corner with a conical roof topped with a green finial. The building has smooth stone quoins, smooth stone around the entrance on the right, and stone sills and lintels around the windows. To the right of the turret roof is a stepped gable crowned with carved stone decoration. Below that is a round window trimmed with more stone decoration.

Yellow brick home with a red tile roof. The entrance is through a round tower (technically not a turret, but I'm counting it) with an arched door and slitty windows designed for shooting at your enemy with a bow and arrow. There are striped awnings on the windows that aren't slits. Two-story red brick building with a round brick corner turret with a conical roof and pointed finial with a green patina. All of the windows have large smooth stone lintels with trapezoidal keystones. The building has red brick corbeling below the roof line, except in the turret, where the corbels are either cream brick or red brick painted a cream color. The first floor has scaffolding on one side and large windows, lattice work, and baskets of red flowers on the other. There are also hand-drawn pictures of char siu pork, egg tarts, and hand made dumplings above the windows.

It almost looks like there might be a brick building under all the gray siding. The building has a gable roof with a skinny rectangular turret attached to one corner. The turret is extra cute because of its oversized hip roof. Two-story frame apartment building clad in light gray (top two-thirds) and dark gray siding. It has a polygonal turret attached to one corner, also covered in siding, with one window per side. The windows on the rest of the building are few and far between.

There is a scalloped red brick and white wrought iron wall along the sidewalk in front of the house. A brick arch fancied up with stone lions and a wrought iron gate creates an imposing entrance. 2.5-story frame residence with a gable roof and pale yellow siding. On the left, a rectangular turret with a pointy roof telescopes up from the ground, accented by dark maroon fish scale shingles between each floor. the entrance on the right is mostly obscured by a large bush.

1990s brick cottage with a steep side-facing gable roof and a round turret/tower with a very pointed roof on the right side. The building is clad in variegated red brick with square stone tiles embedded here and there. The most distinguishing feature is the huge concrete stairway leading up to the door, which is in the turret. The bottom step is almost as wide as the house and each succeeding step gets a bit narrower. It completely dominates the front of the house. Two-story yellow brick corner building with a roune corner turret, possibly made of pressed metal, capped with a stubby conical roof. The building has a cornice with a double row of dentils, brown brick accents on the corners that look like zippers, and some dark red brick on the first floor that might be filling in what used to be windows.

2.5-story frame house clad in blue-gray siding. There are numerous roof styles, including hipped, gambrel, and one that looks like an upside down morning glory on top of the turret. The turret itself is multi-sided and extends a bit past the main roof of the house. It has small arched windows in every facet at the top and long vertical windows beneath them. Two-story fram house clad in light gray siding. The main roof is hipped, with a small front-facing gable on the right side of the second floor. The multi-sided turret is attached to the left side of the second story and has a tall pointy roof with a pointy white cap. The house has an open porch and there is a sign across the porch reading "Cannon Manor Jazz Oasis."

Three-story red brick corner building with a round turret on the 2nd and 3rd floors at the corner. The turret is brick but it's more brown than red and doesn't match the rest of the building except for a bit of the corner. The turret roof looks like a beanie. The windows have rough stone lintels and there's a bit of decorative brickwork below the turret roof. The first floor corner is a muddle of various materials, not original. Lastly, there is a large fire escape on the side. Three-story red brick building with a rusticated stone facade, including a rounded turret with a cone-shaped roof. A bracketed cornice, possibly made of pressed metal, runs just below the turret roof and across the front of the building. To the right of the turret roof is a pressed metal parapet with short pilasters on each side and decorated with flowers and swags. As is often the case in these corner buildings, the corner entrance area is not original. Here, it is covered with silver metal pull-down shades.

Three-story buff brick corner building with a two-story polygonal pressed metal turret. The turret has a multi-sided roof topped with a finial. The first floor around the entrance has been covered with cream replacement brick and is plastered with signs reading "Placas al instante." The turret is pressed metal, decorated with swags and flowers, and painted brown.

One-story Craftsman-style frame residence with multiple gables and a wraparound porch. The porch is supported by wooden posts attached to brick pillars. A short, square turret with a swooping pyramidal roof pokes up from behind the porch roof on the left side. A large, rambling Queen Anne-style home. The first floor is clad in orange brick and is mostly obscured by shrubbery. The second and third floors are covered in two styles of brown shakes. The round turret with a conical roof is attached at a corner on the right side. The house has a small porch, an eyebrow window above the porch, and a bit of gingerbread decoration below that.
