At its Feb. 18 meeting the Tuscaloosa County Commission voted unanimously to award a $12.58 million courthouse renovation contract to Harrison Construction, terminate a contract with Heritage Healthcare, authorize several condemnation and demolition actions, appoint Greg Long to the county economic development authority and approve community funding for a high school team.

After an executive session, the Tuscaloosa County Commission unanimously authorized Probate Judge Ward D. “Rob” Robertson III to execute a contract to purchase property for ‘Project Market’ not to exceed $3.7 million, with terms to be finalized by attorneys for the parties.

The Tuscaloosa County Commission unanimously authorized the purchase of the BAMA Theatre and the adjoining PARA building for the appraised value of $3.54 million plus transaction costs, to be paid from the county reserve fund; the decision followed a motion to suspend the agenda to consider the real estate deal.
