As I haven't done a #TyphoonTuesday in ages and as I look out the window at the rain slashing down, here is the classic shot of a sodden B.78 Eindhoven with a 439 Squadron RCAF Typhoon wading out to the runway, being guided by an Erk on the wing point the way.

#OTD 3 Dec 1944, six 184 Sqn Typhoons departed B.80 Volkel in Holland for RAF Warmwell in Dorest for rocket practice.
It would be a flight that would cost 183 5 Typhoons and 3 pilots.

The RAF added identification stripes early on, due to eager AA gunners shooting at anything resembling an FW-190.
They'd receive standard D-Day invasion stripes in June of '44.
