#U852
Jenrick's shooting up boats has a WW2 U-boat warcrime ring to it. Kapitan Heinz-Wilhem Eck had tye crew of the SS Peleus machine gunned on their rafts in 1944, he was ultimately hanged. Some inspiration.

Interesting comparising between Hegseth and the commander of the german submarine U852.
'Kill Everybody': Hegseth's Reported Order Echoes WWII War Crime
In 1945, a German U-boat captain was executed for ordering his men to open fire on shipwrecked survivors. Eighty years later, a four-star SEAL admiral faces questions for doing the same.

Lesser known facts: in WW2 American subs were under an order dealing with sunken ship survivors. In the so called Peleus Affair, Heinz-Wilhelm Eck the Nazi commander of U852 was found guilty of war crimes and executed. His defence team brought forward the orders for US submarines as precedent.1/2

Heinz-Wilhelm Enz, commander of U852, was executed for the same action. His excuse was the debris field and the survivors would attract the RAF. His excuse has more merit than Hegseth's.
