Recently home from Aviemore when I walked past An Lochan Uaine (Green Loch) towards Strath Nethy and saw how extraordinarily close the fire reached the main #Rothiemurchus & #Abernethy Forests and Ryvoan Bothy. I applaud the Fire Service and the many local volunteers who held the flames at bay.

Many celebrate Thanksgiving, and how Indigenous peoples helped our ancestors survive on Turtle Island. Many mourn the genocide of their peoples on that day.

This year we will go to National Day of Mourning, in Plymouth, MA.

Maybe just commiting to the Gaelic name could be a way to distinguish them? I feel their voters are neutral to Gaelic at worst, and "Pàrtaidh Uaine" is somewhat easy to say with the limited Gaelic knowledge your average Scot has

My concentration is absolutely gone this week after Sunday's jog over the Cairngorms. I've resorted to making granular todo lists and listening to the Disintegration Loops on repeat.

I'd really like to be running or writing today, but alas.

Likewise although the Irish word glas is mostly a green, it can also be grey (clothing made of undyed sheep's wool 4eg) or the shifting blue/greens of the sea; the green of the Irish flag or a traffic light green ("unnatural" greens) would be uaine. #spéirGhorm
Does Irish have a word for ‘orange’?

I must have missed your V post - where did you swim? I'm guessing Loch Vaa as closest(ish) to you. That was going to be my V in original plan when U would have been Lochan Uaine, but then wildfires required plan change. I swithered about Loch Voil but parking can be difficult. Venachar was lovely 💙
