For 20 years UDMR and PSD were the natural coalition partners. In 2008 it even caused a political scandal, where ex leader Ion Iliescu called PSDs candidate Mircea Geoana a moron for saying he'll govern with UDMR, declaring it cost him the election

I think we'll have a highly esoteric gov deal. A 3 times rotation of 6 months each:
-Sole PSD gov voted by PNL-UDMR (Not USR)
-PNL-UDMR(-USR?) gov voted by PSD
-PSD again?

Update 🇷🇴 The governing coalition (PSD + PNL + UDMR) has fallen apart, PSD Prime Minister Ciolacu has resigned and claims he does not support any of the candidates. PSD, still seems to be playing games, and despite the fact that we are in an unprecedented crisis. PNL,UDMR back pro-EU candidate Dan.
Now that they’ve lost embarrassingly, the parties in the governing coalition want to step down from government and throw the country into chaos—just two weeks before the second round of the presidential election. No wonder they only got 20.07%.
