Broadband complaints fall to record low, says Ofcom
Complaints about the UK’s major broadband providers have fallen to their lowest level since records began, according to new figures published by Ofcom. The regulator said broadband complaints dropped to six per 100,000 customers during the first quarter of 2026, continuing a long-term decline from a peak of 40 complaints per 100,000 customers in 2011. Across all major telecoms and pay-TV providers, complaints fell between January and March compared with the previous quarter. TalkTalk remained the most complained-about broadband provider, with customers raising concerns about faults, service provision, complaint handling and billing. Plusnet and Sky generated the fewest broadband complaints. In the landline market, Plusnet and TalkTalk received the highest complaint levels, while EE, Sky, Utility Warehouse, Virgin Media and Vodafone generated the fewest. Sky Mobile attracted the highest number of mobile complaints, largely relating to customers changing provider. EE, Giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, Three and Vodafone received the fewest complaints. For pay-TV, EE and Virgin Media were the most complained-about providers, while Sky and TalkTalk generated the fewest complaints. Cristina Luna-Esteban, Ofcom’s Director of Consumers and Retail Markets, said the record-low broadband complaint levels were encouraging but warned providers against complacency. She also encouraged dissatisfied customers to switch providers, highlighting reforms introduced in recent years to simplify switching and improve transparency around contracts.
