Endowment per student at Amherst College vs UMass Amherst. In what world is this degree of disparity ethical or good for democracy?

Incidentally, hard to believe I've been at UMass for 14 years given that I am clearly 28 years old.

such a lovely interdisciplinary community at umass amherst!
I’m a big fan of the Big Debates™️ so am predisposed to not want to see them dissolved, but @quiltydunn.bsky.social made a great case at UMass today that that’s exactly what we should do with the nativist/empiricist debate

UMass just built a new building for computer science. Why do I, by contrast, along with colleagues in comp lit, languages, and other humanities depts, have to work in a building where the ceiling tiles are falling out and everything leaks? www.umass.edu/planning-des...

Back in ancient times when I attended a small private college near UMass Amherst, my financial aid was so awesome that I paid less than the UMass Amherst students paid.

I mean, you COULD teach the Harvard great books course at UMass. But that would require UMass abandoning its role as a site of taxpayer subsidized workforce training and corporate predation. And we can’t have that happening.

Michigan 28, Rutgers 21.

28 is the fewest points any FBS offense has scored on Rutgers this season, tied with Boston College. UMass scored 37. Maryland scored 30.

The bar was 37.8. Full report card tomorrow.
Today's bar for the Michigan offense, one more time:

37.8 points. Every P4 offense has scored at least 28 on Rutgers.

Even the market only expects about 31 from Michigan.

A win is the floor. The bar is the test. Report card tomorrow.
The bar for Michigan at Rutgers, set before kickoff.

What P4 offenses average on this defense:
• 37.8 points
• 49% success rate
• 5.8 plays of 20+

Every one scored at least 28. Michigan's best vs. a P4 team this year: 21. 🧵

As a professor of 14 years at UMass-Amherst who has been invited to spend the year professoring at Williams College, boy do I feel a certain way about the opening line to this article in the Wall Street Journal. www.wsj.com/us-news/educ...

Real books and small classes at Harvard; meanwhile across the state at UMass I just walked out of class to this (which is unfortunately normal) ….

You have been at UMass Amherst the same amount of time I have been at SUNY Canton! (Also, I graduated from UMass with my PhD in 2010, so we just missed each other!)

UMASS no classes on Election Days. Saw several of my students at the poll. Next year they will be able to register same day as the election if the ballot initiative passes.
