It’s not just Alberta that is being affected; if the UCP gets away with this other provincial governments will become emboldened to undertake similar undemocratic tactics.

All of Eastern Europe, as well as Spain, Portugal and Greece, endured decades of brutal authoritarian rule within living memory. Millions of people in these countries have direct first hand experience of living under violent, undemocratic repressive regimes on both the extreme left and right.

TX Dems eliminating the Electoral College could *hurt* them if TX becomes winnable in presidential years. But that's why it's a great moment to act; the EC is an undemocratic vestige of our founding and deprives most Americans the opportunity to meaningfully participate in presidential elections.
