Here I am, elated after defending the undergrad honors thesis I wrote as a REEES student at UOregon, which evolved into a PhD dissertation, and then a book and a postdoc.
I did not grow up with money and this program let me access the world. No more students will get to have that experience.

Reading about $1bn gift to UOregon, I cannot help thinking: $50m would have kept Hampshire College alive. $100m would have been transformative. It's always disappointing that wealthy "progressive" celebrities give so much energy to performative posturing, so few $ to higher ed
