It’d be neat to have a US senator with some understanding of complex systems and agent based modeling.

I discovered this incredible Aussie channel that appears to be just them doing almost exclusively US news because the target audience isn't other Australians but US based Newsmaxxers who want to be told that actually the whole world agrees with them and it's the funniest shit ever this morning

Right now Javier Milei is probably trying to convince as many US-based tech billionaires as possible to move to Argentina

From a purely logical standpoint, Christians shouldn’t be calling Jews a shande because they aren’t Jewish & the term’s meaning is entirely based in communal self-critique. You can’t tell someone “shut up you’re making us look bad” when you aren’t part of the communal “us” being embarrassed.

Apparently UK press is getting very upset at...

*checks notes*

...a US based politician saying that the UK doesn't factor into Michigan politics 🙄

1. Don't threaten us with a good time.

2. Israel doesn't want him either. Not based on what's happening there right now.

Her story reminds me of the 1979 film Norma Rae, based on the true story of Crystal Lee Sutton, a woman who was fired from the US textile manufacturing plant JP Stevens in 1973 for trying to organize a union. JP Stevens's management at the time "repeatedly harassed or fired union activists."

I appreciate your service in informing us all about this; I would otherwise have no idea.

Three long-running, gold standard, nonpartisan, publicly available social science surveys are on chopping block: GSS, ANES, & PSID.

These surveys are public goods. They help policymakers make better decisions, journalists write evidence-based stories, and academics understand the social world.

BlueSky is not representative of the United States, but it is a reality-based discussion about the world around US.

X is not representative of the United States, and it is an insane right-wing-extremists echochamber that has no grounding in reality.

There are a range of different outcomes possible today, but the saddest will be that at least 45% of all voters will vote based on the lies told by Trump and supported and amplified by tens of thousands GOP officials.

A blue wave, whether it happens or not, cannot hide the red rot that plagues us.

Dr. Portnoff clearly has a lot of credibility in this. Her exposure to Trump was at the very least in the Miss Teen USA pageant thought based upon this it appears to have happened first at an earlier age.

Trump wants us to put him on the ballot. Put this on the ballot.

You. Must. Watch. This.

Dr Larissa Portnoff is a clinical psychologist who graduated from Columbia. On Nov 1, she posted this, outing herself as one of the Jane Does who gave evidence to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

America? You cannot ignore this. It’s past fucking time. Spread the word.

Donald Trump took a major hit in the US midterms. But the tech industry may prove to be an even bigger loser.

Across the country, electoral races were won and lost based on where candidates stood on data centers. The public was clear: they want moratoriums and for AI ambitions to be reined in.
US midterms delivered a blow to tech’s AI ambitions
Communities are determined to stop the data centers. Now we’ll see how the industry responds.

What is the greatest threat to science in the US? Well, according to Prof. Ioannidis, it's bloggers who criticize him, not the Trump administration distantly science-based agencies and distorting science. sciencebasedmedicine.org/what-is-the-... via @sciencebasedmed.bsky.social @gorskon.bsky.social
What is the greatest threat to science in the US?
John Ioannidis recently characterized journalists invoking falsely (in his view) "science-based" views as a threat to science. What is the real threat to science in the US? (Hint: It's not that.) Here

I hope all my US-based friends and fans vote today. Particularly if you want your country from crashing out the way it has been.
