I bring it up because I do think SOCOM has a role & an important one.
But the JSOC v SOCOM (in my case USASOC) is important.
Overwhelmingly vast majority of USASOC aren’t kinetic forces. We are force multipliers. Teachers w/guns.
That is an important role & Regular Army just isn’t equipped.
But the JSOC v SOCOM (in my case USASOC) is important.

Basically the same deal when you FOIA USASOC. I've never gotten a single document out of the CIA, just rejection letters. If you don't have a lawyer filing a lawsuit, FOIA is almost useless.

I remember when USASOC had to offer HUGE re-enlistment bonuses (2005) because The State Department and Army Core of Engineers were paying Blackwater and Triple Canopy top dollar for talent and Washington realized they had put Uncle Sam in a bidding was with itself.

JSOC sources I've talked to seem to generally expect that Lt. Gen. Jon Braga (current USASOC commander and former commander of Delta Force) will succeed Bradley as JSOC commander—but they agree it's puzzling that he hasn't been announced.
Odd that Bradley has now been confirmed by the Senate as the next SOCOM commander but his replacement as JSOC commander has still not been announced.
Current JSOC commander and former commander of SEAL Team 6 Mitch Bradley announced to succeed Bryan Fenton as SOCOM commander.
FWIW, Bradley is the single Team 6 officer about whom I have heard the most positive things from non-Navy peers/subordinates.
Was one of the first SEALs into Afg in 2001.

100%, That’s why he keeps visiting SOF units, the last “I’m checking on the men” post I saw he was working out with a USASOC unit. I forgot who said it but he’s acting like he thinks a Battalion CO should act rather than the SecDef.
