I feel this 😭 USCBP made my late mother-in-law throw out a big bag of dried za'atar she made from scratch. No regulation violated, just — lady you're Arab and I don't know what this is, if you want to enter, throw it away. If you've ever had homemade za'atar you know why this still upsets me.

Maybe its ok to cut 75% of federal employees because there are so many of them? No.
We have about the same number of feds as we had in the 1960s. As a percentage of the population, they are at historical lows. (We actually need more employees, esp. younger employees, but good luck recruiting them).

Instead of “Abolish ICE,” I would say “DHS needs to be completely overhauled, top to bottom.” For one thing, USCBP has been out of control since at least Obama administration. Don’t let them off the hook.

I always dread coming back to the USA after visiting Canada, which we do about once every two years. USCBP is awful compared with their counterparts in Canada.

Isn’t it the job of the USCBP to vet people entering the US from Canada? Last time I crossed the border, US border agents were the ones who checked my passport and questioned me. US is punishing us with tariffs because THEIR border security is failing???Charlie’s right, it’s not about trade.
