I remember when my USCCA instructor told us "treat every weapon as if it's loaded, unless you're setting up a sick photo-op on your porch, then it doesn't matter if there's kids around."

I am really thinking about doing it. I can get a instructor cert from USCCA in a weekend. I havnt shot in over a year but yesterday I checked to see if I can still qual (they require 80% in 8" @ 15y, i am 90% in 4" @ 15y).
Like I think this is going to happen.

If you do decide to get a gun and carry, train often and get self-defense liability insurance with legal representation (like USCCA)

Did a free “control the bleed” class with USCCA and it was being held at a local 5.11 Tactical store. Lot of good info and advice, though the last 15 min was a sales pitch to sell memberships to the USCCA xD
If I was making more money and didn’t live in an apartment, I’d consider it. But oh well.

I had fantastic CCL instructors here at maybe one of the only indoor ranges in IL that is about as straight and narrow as they come, without all the ammosexuality and politics. 16 hours of training. They were more aligned with the USCCA training and doing things by the book. 1/2

I think it’s imperative to be apart of the USCCA (US Concealed Carry Association) if you have your concealed permit. It’s valuable knowledge that goes far beyond simply carrying your piece! What are you going to do if you have to use it? So yes get your permit but educate yourself beyond that!
