I wonder how many times she denied defendants a downward adjustment under USSG 3E1.1 because they failed to sufficiently demonstrate an acceptance of responsibility. I wonder if she would ever have accepted a statement this vague as an example of true remorse.

it's sad she didn't get to do zima alter since zima is her oc baby, but we know skade's favorite faction is the ussg bears, so at least she got to do one of them! i've always seen her and ryuzakiichi as the "mom and dad" of ak, so it sucks that we don't get MORE skade women (nightingale alt pls)

I wrote a memo that was the impetus for an amendment to Federal Rule of Appellate Procedure 3.

USSG need to add an official point value for “that’s fucked up,” I guess. (10x is extreme, but also the “stolen property” here is pretty far from what anybody thinks about when they think about that charge. Seems reasonable to treat it much more harshly than, like, a shipment of books.)

Context is important. Fuck Gorsuch, but during this part of the hearing, he was openly admonishing Sauer's (USSG) proposal that Congress would just be able to 'take back' the unlimited tariff power that Sauer was advocating for.

In all seriousness, federal sentencing & release date calculation is complex AF (the passage of the First Step Act caused a mini crisis where BOP couldn't figure out who was supposed to be released) and there's a whole sentence calculation bureau in Grand Prairie, Texas

I certainly don't understand USSG, but I think when DOJ says the guidelines range is 1-6 months, they mean that's the range for the total punishment. So two consecutive 6-month terms would be an upward departure from the guidelines, and they're just asking for the maximum under the guidelines.
