Ever! And with us seeing what UWisconsin has been able to do for the game as well. Let’s hope this keeps the momentum going in growing the sport.

Any company that knows that where doing would hire a Botany major from from UWisconsin or a horticulture major from Michigan State over a Harvard bio grad, because the Harvard grad would likely not have taken plant anatomy, cultivation/management, systematics classes, etc

Legal scholar and UWisconsin–Madison chancellor Jennifer Mnookin will be Columbia University's next president (the fifth in four years), per reports from WSJ, NYT, and Bloomberg.

NYT sees a resemblance between Mnookin's resume and that of longtime Columbia president Lee Bollinger.
Columbia selects University of Wisconsin-Madison Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin as next University president, according to reports

UChicago professors may not count as ultra-rich, but am reminded of time in grad school when UWisconsin press had a sale on a book series a lot of us wanted; I organized a bulk order & collected checks - every grad student paid me the exact $27.60 amount & every single prof rounded down to $27. 🧐 🙃
Anyone who has ever worked for a rich person in a service capacity knows they don't pay their bills, they pay late, they resent having to pay at all.
Every time I see these kinds of numbers, I'm reminded of just how much wealth is sloshing around at the top of the distribution while front-line workers are underpaid. The wage hikes from so many strikes have been high. But companies seem to be able to afford them...

Extraordinarily gratified to talk to Sau Lan Wu, Enrico Fermi Professor at UWisconsin, who was on the Brookhaven team (right) that found the J/psi particle, holding charmed quarks, sealing the quark model in the "November Revolution" of '74. She then revealed gluons, 1979, at DESY.
Quite the double!

Well, this was fun! Thanks so much Cyndi and UWisconsin River Falls!

9.5 years ago I sat in Tom Reps' dining room with another prospective faculty, Taylor Berg-Kirkpatrick, during my second visit at UWisconsin. We went separate ways and didn't meet again for 5 years.
Today we're flying together to an NSF PI meeting for a joint project. Academia is wild

My dad's business is academic consulting for Chinese students vho want to attend American universities. I edit application essays. I see essays for UMichigan, UWisconsin, etc. Admissions rates at top Chinese universities are under 5%—if the family has money, an American degree is very attractive.
I have to point this out: international undergraduate students generally pay full freight at US universities, which means they effectively subsidize higher education for Americans; we *export* higher ed.

Full freight at Harvard is ::checks:: $86,926 per year.
He’s such a fucking idiot

The First thing Scott Walker did in Wisconsin was to ban the use of UWisconsin photo IDs at polling places. It was part of a very big bill, and part of a continuing scheme to limit access to voting by reducing the number of ID'S accepted, and closing DMVs to make them harder to get.

I am so sorry to see this. These are the changes that drove me out of my tenure track job in the UWisconsin system in 2018. I am glad the disaster is kind of slow moving, but still enraged that it is happening at all.
UW-Milwaukee will lay off nearly three dozen faculty, using the provisions of the decade-old law eliminating tenure.

Sadly have to decline another UWisconsin-Madison talk, because their "hiring" policies are so poorly administered. Great students, good staff, but criminal background checks (always inequitable when not tied to specifics of a role) and in-person I-9 verification for online work is too ridiculous.

This talk is about creating a pipeline from K-12 students to the UWisconsin system, including wild rice restoration, rooted in collaborations with tribal nations like the Menominee #NACCR2026 🧪

It was the same thing with the list of US presidential college degrees the other day — the one that included JFK getting a degree in the 70s.

It had picked up a page from UWisconsin-Madison on students with the same names as presidents but missed the context that was obvious if you clicked though.

I'm not even confident Richmond could beat every D3 team in the UWisconsin system.

There is also a very cool remora-inspired adhesion project but that's too soon to promote. I've long loved robots- fond memories of my dad taking me to the UWisconsin science expo to see latest robots. Here, a diversity of the lab's robots.

Former Gov. of Wisconsin.
He terrorized public sector employees, did everything he could to stomp on the teachers, severely underfunded the UWisconsin system.
Un-American for thine, graduation for mine.
