My wish for a video game related dream came true! I dreamed about a 2D space shooter with a weapon called the Ultrium. Taking what seems like an eternity to charge, then requiring a short cutscene before it fires, it fills the screen with a laser beam that destroys EVERYTHING, including terrain.

I used to manage a few HP MSL6000s with Ultrium 3&4. HP Data Protector (Omniback) was/is superior to Netbackup IMHO.

Beim Bandlaufwerk darf man sich nicht täuschen lassen, gerade bei mittleren und großen Datenmengen sind die immer noch State of the Art -> LTO Bandlaufwerk, z.B. HPE Ultrium.

Hi Gina, we regularly do tape backups and we test them occasionally to confirm functionality. I believe our hardware is "Quantum Scalar i3 Library" (£14k), the tapes are "Quantum Ultrium LTO-8 12/30TB", and the software is "PresSTORE". The latter is a bit expensive and requires a learning curve.

DVDs and Blu-rays only last a fraction of that if professionally pressed and the longer lasting M-Discs are far more expensive per TB

If I were rich and paranoid, I'd be using a tape drive like the big legal firms have. Expensive as hell ($7k for the drive, $100 for a cassette) and abysmal read/write, but very high capacity (typically 15TB-45TB per cassette) and rated to last decades.
