- This was S of Juneau (maybe near Bay of Pillars)
- They said it was 2 women, a kid and a dog and basically they were going too far with too little gas; we gave them some and helped find an anchorage for the night

Had a great trip to Alaska. Denali came out for us. We had perfect weather. Kayaked from the small "uncruise" ship. Witnessed grizzlies and glaciers. And had two glorious weeks mostly disconnected.

Former resident of Southeast here who’s had friends die on the water because no aid came.
Thank you. That’s why this has “blown up.” Southeast can be extremely deadly. To ignore a request for aid is the most heinous and ghoulish thing I can imagine. I’m glad UnCruise was able to render assistance.

I mean, I have sailor friends who quit Uncruise (a similar operation to this one) several years ago, because of their corporate irresponsibility around Covid mitigation

It wasn't a smaller cruise ship that called for help - it was a tiny skiff with 3 people on board (one a child) that had run out of fuel. The smaller cruise ship (from the "UnCruise" company) was the one that answered the request for assistance and towed them to safe harbor and refueled them.

i got family members who take cruises periodically. even in the before times (c-19) not sure I would've taken one. don't we already know they are floating petri dishes? I did go on an "uncruise" one time. Very few people and not a floating hotel AT ALL. (honestly it's all kind of a blur)

We've sailed with #Uncruise in #Alaska twice, most recently last year. Both cruises and crews were wonderful. My wife, an early riser, would routinely hang out with the captain steering the boat in the early morning.
