Abandoned Beehive
Found this beehive on the ground beside one of our sheds. It had apparently been attached until recently under a back eave. I had never noticed it before today. Kind of cool. But glad I didn't run into it when it was in use!

It looks like all the potted roses survived the winter. Now pruned and with a new top layer of soil and worm castings they are under a slight eave on the warm, South side of the house until the monsoons end. These roses will spend their lives in pots.

Mason bees have nested in the bottom of this roll of bamboo fencing in my wood shed, I suppose I can't use it now lol. I was inspired and drilled holes in a chunk of maple firewood and mounted it under an eave. They were in it as I was putting the last screws in to hold it up.

#OTD in 1928, Dorothy Pilley completed one of the most dangerous first ascents of the C20, the Dent Blanche by its overhanging northwest ridge. At one point she and her 3 fellow climbers had to swing out from under a stone eave, above 3,000 feet of thin air. She was wearing the wrong boots...1/
