The Pixies have unveiled four previously unreleased tracks recorded during the making of their albums 'Bossanova' and 'Trompe le Monde'. These tracks, dating from 1987 to 1991, have now been made available on all major streaming platforms for the first time. The tracks include a Steve Albini-produced version of 'Dig For Fire' recorded in late 1987 during 'Surfer Rosa' sessions, which was later reworked for 'Bossanova'. 'Punk Loop', recorded in 1991 during 'Trompe le Monde' sessions, remained an unreleased jam until now. 'Brackish Boy' was originally written for the Pixies but later re-recorded by Black Francis for his 1993 solo album, with this early version now mastered from original session tapes. The fourth track, 'Go Man Go', co-written with Kim Deal during 'Bossanova' and The Breeders' 'Last Splash' sessions, was played live by The Breeders in the early 1990s but never made it onto either album. The song resurfaced in 2023 when The Breeders included it in their 'Last Splash' 30th anniversary reissue. The Pixies are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, having recently completed a UK and European tour. Guitarist Joey Santiago confirmed they are working on new material, with plans to gather in October to develop more songs. Their latest album, 'The Night The Zombies Came' (2024), features bassist Emma Richardson, and they are scheduled to tour with Queens Of The Stone Age in the US in 2027.

A new album titled 'David Bowie: The Shel Talmy Recordings' is set to be released on September 18 via Parlophone, featuring ten previously unheard tracks from David Bowie's early career in 1965. Recorded under the name Davie Jones, the album includes collaborations with legendary producer Shel Talmy, who worked with The Who and The Kinks, as well as contributions from pre-Led Zeppelin Jimmy Page, The Yardbirds, and Nicky Hopkins. The collection marks the most complete gathering of Bowie's early work before he adopted his iconic stage name. The sleeve notes by Alec Palao highlight the significance of these recordings, suggesting they reflect the vibrant London music scene of 1965 rather than being judged by Bowie's later achievements. The album includes both studio tracks and solo demos, with a detailed tracklist spanning vinyl sides. This release offers insight into Bowie's formative years, showcasing his resilience and early musical experimentation. The article also references a BBC rejection letter from 1965, which described Bowie's sound as unconventional, underscoring his unique path in music history.
