also nice bit of software when needed, if your camera runs out of battery whilst filming and the video is corrupted, you can normally save it with any mp4 untrunc software such as www.videohelp.com/software/MP4... you just give it a broken file and working file using same device and settings

Update on the corrupted VOD : untrunc failed to save the video, so it looks like it'll be the Twitch VOD for that one.
A pity, because most of the recorded VOD was fine, it's just some fragments that were corrupted and messed up the entire video. Rest in peace, 1440p VOD. 🫡

Unlike untrunc can also recover the time code, MXF based clips and even recovers X-OCN of the BURANO and VENICE or the very old DVCAM based .RSV formats. Let me know if you find a file it can not completely recover already and I am happy to add support for it.

Thanks for sharing untrunc! It is getting quite good at fixing the most common type of .RSV files. After being a tired of walking people through installing untrunc on their machines and debugging compiler errors with them I decided to create a browser based tool:

If this ever helps anyone, MP4s by default are unusable if something happens to them during recording/encoding. Google first said "impossible", then sketchy sites trying to sell something, to a YT video that took 18 min to get to "Untrunc", free open-source and took like 2 minutes to salvage my MP4s

If anyone wants to know what I did, I downloaded this program. Load up untrunc-gui, put a file recorded in a similar fashion (i.e. recorded in OBS with the same settings) under reference file, then put the broken file in truncated file, then let it run. Literally saved the entire hour+ file.
