URBANARTISTRY PRESENTS… BEAUTIFUL LOSERS@cpxmcr - SCREEN 1 Friday 30 Jan 2026, 19:00The Da Silva brothers (@tonyds4211 & I) are gonna be heading over and we’re super hyped for this one!! Not only for the documentary but also for the beat set beforehand from the homie, the one and only @mattkuartz (aka Mr. @workinonit.mcr)!!! Kuartz is hip hop royalty and one of the best producers out there!! You don’t wanna miss this one!! Here’s the blurb about the documentary:In the early 1990s, a loose-knit group of like-minded outsiders found common ground at a small NYC storefront gallery. Rooted in the DIY subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip-hop, and graffiti, they created art that directly reflected the lives they were living. With almost no ties to the “established” art world, this community forged an entirely new visual language—one that would go on to reshape contemporary art and influence pop culture around the globe.Beautiful Losers (2008), directed by @aaronroseofficial and Joshua Leonard, documents this cultural shift with rare archival footage, intimate interviews, and a vibrant look at the artists who grew from underground scenes to international recognition. Celebrated for its raw honesty and heartfelt storytelling, the film captures not only the rise of a movement but the friendships, ethos, and DIY spirit that fueled it.Featuring key figures in urban and street culture, including @obeygiant, @artofgonz, @ed.templeton, Harmony Korine (@edgird) Barry McGee, and Margaret Kilgallon. The film’s score is composed by @moneymark(of @beastieboys fame), adding an energetic and soulful backdrop to the artists’ stories. To celebrate the true Beautiful Losers attitude, who better to be playing live in the bar than Kuartz—the mind behind WORKINONIT, the community-driven event that brought together beat makers and hip-hop heads from across Manchester. His dedication to grassroots creativity and collaborative culture makes him the perfect fit for the night.Feature run time - 90minKuartz (In the Bar): 7:00–8:00 pmBeautiful Losers: 8:10–9:40 pm#BeatifulLosers #Cultplex #UrbanArtistry #Skateboarding Kuartz @urbanartistry_presents
