#Uruguayans
I find this disappointing from the LDs, a party that gets a lot right.

Firstly, there's the use of the word "unfair".

Brexit was a UK choice. Britons are treated for Schengen purposes like Canadians, Koreans and Uruguayans in Europe.

Uruguayans talk of the 'Garra Charrúa' (Charrúa claw) to describe the never-say-die spirit of their football.

The Charrúa were the indigenous people of what is now Uruguay, who resisted Spanish colonisers until a notorious campaign in 1831 by the Uruguayan govt to massacre them.

And there is no word in English for someone/something from the US other than "American". That's just a fact, it's not us being racist towards Bolvians or Uruguayans. Its just English.

"Brexit was a UK choice. Britons are treated for Schengen purposes like Canadians, Koreans and Uruguayans in Europe."

Indeed, as I have to periodically remind Brit friends visiting their holiday homes here when they whine about how Europe is 'punishing' Brits out of spite. 🙄

So there is going to be a World Cup, but Brazilians, Uruguayans, Algerians and Nigerians can't participate? Cool.
Setting aside the human cost of hundreds of thousands of families divided and the billions of dollars in economic disruption this will cause, how exactly is the US meant to be host the World Cup and Olympics when a third of the world legally cannot visit here? www.newsweek.com/map-countrie...

As a Jew, whenever Christians try to draw some circle around them and us by using "Judeo-Christian," I think of how Argentinians will always say, "The Uruguayans and us, we're basically the same; we're sibling nationalities," and the Uruguayans are behind them like

Ran into some Uruguayans on the street here for the friendly against England. Seemed like a nice atmosphere.

The center of the world? The Argentinians wouldn't mind if Buenos Aires, Argentina, was officially classified as the center of the world. Or so I am being told by Uruguayans. Source: buff.ly/37vpO13

This world map is centered on Argentina. I’m told that Uruguayans claim that’s how Argentinians view the world. 😉 Source for the claim is the only Uruguayan that I know and the source for the map is here: buff.ly/3sSq01O

Pollsters reckon some two-thirds of Uruguayans favour legalising assisted dying. Remarkably, a solid majority of Uruguay’s Catholics back it, too
Liberal Uruguay and the right to die
Could its approach spread across Latin America?

it’s not bigotry. argentinians are extremely racists towards brazilians - especially when it’s about soccer (uruguayans and paraguayans are shitty too)

Very bad. The closest proxies are two very deadly, decade-long civil wars and the decade-long civic-military dictatorship of Uruguay, where "one in every five Uruguayans went into exile, one in fifty were detained, and one in five hundred went to prison"

The US has twice as many guns per capita (1.2) than #2 in the world, Yemen (0.53), which has been in civil war since 2014.

Next on the list, at one-third of the U.S. gun ownership, are Serbia and Montenegro (0.39 apiece). Please don't look up what they did during the dissolution of Yugoslavia

Gringos probably won't know this. But I love how Uruguayans call Uruguay with its long full name... like a angry mom scalding her son...

Remembering Asdrúbal Fontes-Bayardo, born #OnThisDay in 1922, in Pan de Azúcar, Uruguay. Pic: he entered one #F1 GP, Reims ’59, in a Maserati 250F, but DNQ’d. Only 3 Uruguayans had driven in F1 before Fontes-Bayardo - Eitel Cantoni, Alberto Uria & Óscar González - & none since.
