#Usability
Eventually, the work of fascist discourse is to destroy the utility of language altogether. One of the ways AI is a fascist tool is by destroying the reliability or usability of the image, of video, art or photograph

And don't reuse passwords! As always, the password managers I recommend are 1Password if you need usability and Bitwarden if you need free, but most any of them will work fine and be a significant security improvement!

a word on Linux usability out of the box.

Ubuntu came along in 2004-2005 and set a new standard for Linux desktop usability. It was just ridiculously better at fixing the paper cuts - stupid little things that shouldn't even be a problem.

I was on FreeBSD at the time and moved to 5.04 […]

The PMC interactive COVlD map is best viewed on a large screen. To improve usability on phones, we have added custom URLs to zoom in on local estimates.

Replace the numbers with your zip code. It should save time & make it easier to share with others.

I for one support banning ketchup sachets on usability grounds.

I understand the impulse to speak up in defense of Itch as they take a lot of unwarranted shit but I don't see what is gained by behaving as though this whole situation isn't an extremely predictable comms fuckup exacerbated by a rapidly-mounting platform usability crisis. They earned this response

Good news everyone! I put the Cheshire Cat on the bike, gave a finish line (and procgen level maker), ten good “ease you into it” levels, and some usability improvements (color the border for w direction).

It’s human playable!

At what point of near endless loss of usability of search engines, collapse of original content, neutering of an entire generations problem solving and reading capabilities, and constant hacks of important services do we just accept that AI was a mistake and kill the thinking machines

my old laptop was a windows 8 SKU that HP had slightly upgraded to make it reach the minimum for Windows 10. Awful computer. Easily 20 minutes from boot to usability. I installed fedora on it and now it's fast and zippy and solid. still kicking, 11yrs after manufacture

the computer version of those

Then they'd better get started then, shouldn't they? This is clearly a fundamental threat to the usability and longevity of Itch as a platform, so I would think they treat it with the same speed and severity with which they addressed adult content...

I'm wondering if the model was trained that "Explanations = usability" like they were trained that "comments = readability" for code?

if LLMs had actually transformed software engineering instead of being a nicer UI in front of outsourcing that hides the minutiae we would see people shipping more high quality software faster. instead basically all software is buggier and of worse general usability (ui/ux) than four years ago. hmmm
October 31, 2026 at 7:29 PM
the bonkers thing about LLMs is we have had many years of "tell the computer to do something" and everyone accepts some amount of learning curve to use literally any machine at all. you learn to ride a bike. you learn to drive a car. usability development has always been about narrowing that gap.

So far most keys seem to have recovered some of their usability, but space keeps double clicking and sometimes it sticks until I pry it up with a finger nail 😬

I know of them and parents truly are working. It’s the product and the consideration I’m worried about . We need folks in tech who are able to think civic and usability first

And I don’t know who has the cash to do that
