東日本大地震の時に中学生が公益性と善意からNHK放送画面を無断でUstreamで配信したが、緊急性・公益性が高いと判断したUstream側もNHKからの連絡があるまで配信を停止しないこととし、NHKの広報もその無断配信を許容し、下から順にNHKの正式な許可を上げていき、最終的にNHKが公式にUstream配信をはじめるという流れがあったのだが、その事が頭の片隅にありながらも、公益性が高いとはいえ、法的に十分と言えない形で「引用」されたニュース放送とかがSNSに流れてきた時に「うーむ、なんともワシにはわかりません」と、良いとも良くないとも思う。線引きを決めきれない。

This is a major reason I was hired for the campaign. When we did the sit down strikes UFCW staff couldn't legally live post or a stream the sit down strikes inside the store. It was partially my job to train the workers. They streamed to USTREAM! It was so cool.
Walmart also sued UFCW in response to organizing efforts at Walmart and for years has had a permanent injunction against the union from entering Walmart property except to shop

I worked on a presidential campaign in the 2008 Democratic presidential primary. At the time we had presence on about 27 social platforms advertised on the site. The big ones were Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Ustream, MySpace & SecondLife. It’s very hard to say which platforms stick.
I do really wish Bluesky had been able to scale and open up faster - which would have invited its own huge problems of course, but might have at least helped it gain much more market share
It’s only been two days, but it seems clear to me that Bluesky missed its moment to be the Twitter replacement.
It feels like Threads is going to eat Twitter’s lunch, and Bluesky will be a cute niche site. Hope I’m wrong, but feels inevitable already.
