Satellite with Animal Astronauts, ca. 1952-1957
Manufactured by Cragstan Indutries, Japan.
Ref B.56:1 to 3-2005, V & AMuseum.
Boxed silver and red spherical tin satellite toy, the bottom is flattened and has wheels. The friction mechanism is stored inside. There is red writing on the outside which reads MS-7 and animal satallite. There are four silver springs that stick out on either side and two black knobs. There are windows on either side with pictures of a monkey. On the side is a picture of a dog as a spaceman. On the top is a figure of a bear as a astronaut, as the satellite moves along this bear bobs up and down. The box has a plain card bottom and a printed top. The top has an image of a toy satellite and the cartoon characters a bear, dog and monkey.
