Wow!

Three scholars at Columbia, Michigan, & Maryland just introduced a measure of the partisan leanings of employers in the U.S.

The data is constructed by linking voter registrations to online worker profiles.

VRscores capture the political affiliations of 21.8M workers across 2.6M employers.

fascinating visualizations here. they linked online employee profiles to voter registration databases -- you can search just for universities, and you can find your own. I saw to my considerable surprise that the College of Engineering skews further left than UM as a whole.

@ryanburge.bsky.social which makes use of our #VRscores data from the Politics at Work project with
Justin Frake and @reubenhurst.bsky.social. Tremendously exciting to see how people are making use of the data to uncover new insights!

• Right-leaning Protestant groups, in descending percentages were Nondenominational, Baptist, Unknown, Pentecostal, and bringing up the rear, Lutherans. Every other group leaned left.

13/ The best part? We're in the process of making these data publicly accessible for researchers. While we finalize the public data release, we've created a website vrscores.org where you can explore and visualize the data (it's still WIP, so let us know if you find anything odd!)
