Malin felt like a reprieve had finally come. Even as she made her way to the village, it seemed further than in the dream, she sensed nothing that wanted to harm her here. The trees were plain and thin here, their bark like skin stretched around them.

She hoped the village would become welcoming to her, not that she had any reason to be nit-picky about anything she found here. She had willingly left the old world behind after all, and could return if things got too bad.

When he came to visit on Prilly 4, I was kind enough to #purify my #uncle in a #flood of radiation. He wasn't happy. Mostly because I gave him no #warning. That and all of his clothes were ruined, his arm fell off and, oh yeah, he can't ever go home. Pfft. Ungrateful.

She appeared in what in daylight seemed like a quarry. But something here made the air feel fresh and clean, much more so than from where she came from.

A part of her was still mournful, for all the people torn into an age of chaos back home. She had tried to warn them, though they only responded by vilifying her.

The hike down to the village would take most of the afternoon. But she hoped this path led to a bright future.

Her bag was already packed, ready to renounce this life she had led. Her former friends though her dead, or at least gone through to another realm. All vestiges of her life was now far behind her.

She was through with her lonesome life, ready to find friends anew. Maybe even someone special. Someone among that new continent full of people.

Outside the land was celebrating, sparks lit up the sky in patterns the wielders that were left could make.

Malin didn’t stay to look at the displays, instead letting the shadows take her to that spot she’d found in her dreams. Ready for a new life.

I find solace through music swaying along through incensed air.

She passed over a massive jungle, forests so large nothing in her old world could compare to. Here and there she thought she saw evidence of life, but it was all fleeting. No permanent settlements then.

When she reached the mountains she started seeing villages scattered on the mountainside. Strangely - she heard music. Setting down on firm land a little away from the sound she snuck towards them.

What she saw brought joy to her - her were people who could navigate the world of dreams, people with power like her. Here she could nurture a good life.

But first to wake up and travel here in the flesh. Then she’d slowly introduce herself.

By her reckoning, land should be approaching now. She wanted to refrain from travelling to any populated area, knowing the people would be hesitant to trust her if she just appeared beside a shadow inside the town.

When she did travel though, she would turn the door to her cave home solid, so as to seem to leave no record of her time there - while at the same time keeping her hideaway so she could return some time in the future.

Ahead of her clouds were tighter. She hoped that meant land was below. Now, to find the villages - and one she wanted to try living in.
