I will say I do miss the old days of Commander where one if my friends had a Vaevictis Asmadi ramp deck that he was like "I cast Vaevictus every third game or so because sometimes you have a bunch of lands and nothing to do and he's a great mana sink"

Also, because I’ll take any excuse to talk about this, we only actually have confirmation one of the original elder dragons is dead (Chromium). Vaevictus was turned into a Whelp by a wizard and vanished and Palladia was sealed in a cave and put in an enchanted sleep but neither died last we saw them

for context: the smuggler's surprise was in response to me casting ravenous chupacabra. that invasion was flipped by vaevictis AFTER the smuggler's surprise making rei's board indestructible
