It started with HTML validators in the 2000s. People got more interested in seeing the green light/completion tick than putting a small amount of extra effort into providing accessible and useful information.
taking the time to enter the word "image" for alt text has to be a special kind of antisocialness. why not simply leave it blank so everyone knows there is no alt text? why make people click to read *that*?

I would say these primary results don't really look like a Democratic Tea Party
it looks like Democratic voters still mostly trust their validators in the local party and in media
there's real left-progressive energy and primaries can be won but the voters don't wanna burn it all down

Heather Cox Richardson's little "anti-fascist" newsletter brings in at least $5MM/year. Substack takes a 10% cut, meaning that $500K of that money is going directly to a platform that is funded by fascists (a16z is a major investor!) and devoted to enthusiastically normalizing fascism.
