Part of traveling around Canada this summer is visiting small town diners and supporting local businesses, rather than going for chain restaurants.
Today it’s breakfast at Travellers in Valleyview, Alberta, which has been operating since 1991.

David George Oldham, a Diagolon supporter, is running for Valleyview town council. So it's important people know his views about Valleyview.

In the wake of the 5th Estate documentary about the political operatives attacking Valleyview, Alberta's library, local residents turned up for tonight's 5 pm town council meeting. It's a fully packed house. The outcry on social media over the weekend has turned into real action.

A small bridge crosses a narrow, frozen stream. There are ornate metal railings on each side of the bridge, with round finials on top of the six posts. Across the bridge are snow-laden evergreens and bare winter trees. The sky is grey and cloudy.

Early morning walk in Valleyview Park. It was a little chilly! ❄️

The Oshawa Creek is partly frozen and is flowing under a bridge. There are a few ducks swimming and others are resting on the snow covered ice. The sky is blue with areas of white clouds. There are trees along both banks of the creek.

An extremely cold walk this morning (-14C) in Valleyview Park. It doesn't seem that long ago that Hibiscus trees were blooming there! They are now safely tucked away in the city greenhouses.

The Oshawa Creek flows through the park and is filled with hundreds of salmon at this time of year. The creek is lined with trees and shrubs along the banks and the early morning sun is shining on the water.

This has also spread like wildfire through librarian networks across Canada. It's not just Valleyview concerned about and aware of potential political attacks now.

Being unionized may help these workers as they face opposition from town residents who have waged a War on Wokeness.

Well. In six years as a Senator, I never did meet PM Trudeau. But tonight at Stampede, I shook hands with a fellow Edmontonian. What did we talk about? Andy’s Valleyview IGA. And that famous mechanical horse. Of course. #Stampede #cdnpoli #yyc #Calgary #Edmonton #yeg

Since February 11, we've received nearly 200 letters of support for the staff and youth of Valleyview Municipal Library.

They are moving and inspirational and, above all, hopeful.

We’ve published a few of our favourites, with permission from the authors.
