Seconded wet palettes (can be made with a tupperware, paper towel, and unwaxed parchment to test).
A brush with a big belly and fine tip is superior to a small brush because it can hold more liquid to keep the paint flowing. Princeton Velvettouch are my recommendation for synthetic brushes.

I want to talk about nice things briefly so let me just say that I have started using Princeton "VelvetTouch" synthetic hair brushes for painting with acrylics and they are absolutely delightful. More control than most synthetic hair brushes and clean off more easily
