so weird after i get venofer (iron iv with 3x the dose of the one i’ve been getting) i feel not just not-cold but actually HOT

doc actually wants to *see* me not just say "here have venofer" so i have an appt wednesday morning.
yeah so my heme wants me to get in for the first infusion later this week whee. I tried going back to look at previous iron numbers to see if saturation has gone this low before but couldn't find enough records. I did ask about it but we'll see if my doc responds.
i swear anemia is the living experience of frog boiling in water. I did not think I was super symptomatic until I got the lab numbers. Then I realized my energy is just gone, I'm literally covered in bruises, and climbing the stairs left me winded.

meanwhile it's time for my monthly venofer so I hopefully get a little more energy. I've dropped the ball on these so this is my first in a while and I am likely pretty low at the moment. yay #anemia.

#anemia update: We're doing a set of five Venofer infusions and then we're gonna go to monthly maintenance infusions, to be adjusted pending bloodwork results. I have mixed feelings but am consoling myself by buying an IV hoodie.

venofer/iron sucrose has been fantastic for me and as long as I stay on top of the appointments I do great. But I've missed my last few so I gotta fix that and get back on the cycle (I generally do monthly pushes).

You can also crave crunchy food. I craved KALE all day, every day. Dreamt about kale, woke up thinking about Kale and ate it all day long. I just thought I really liked kale. 🤣 Low Hgb and ferritin of 2. I had a series of Venofer infusions and haven't thought about it since.

good to know because in Canada we dispense the Venofer at the community pharmacy and then the patient brings it to the infusion center and with going to school in the US we did not learn that kind of tidbit about it 😅

So… update on the iron infusion mess:
IT NEVER NEEDED A PRIOR AUTHORIZATION. My doctor just had to put the order in for Venofer instead of Feraheme (because Feraheme is 5-6x the cost of Venofer).
ALL OF THIS WAS UNNECESSARY.
I am literally laugh-crying with rage.

IT NEVER NEEDED A PRIOR AUTHORIZATION. My doctor just had to put the order in for Venofer instead of Feraheme (because Feraheme is 5-6x the cost of Venofer).
ALL OF THIS WAS UNNECESSARY.

Now it's a 2 minute push through IV.
change is scary! but less time needed for this is a good thing.
don't love the iron taste in my throat though

But my hgb went from 11 to 8 during birth and they gave me venofer
So now I’m hopefully good but I’m getting a PCP so someone will check!
