Seitdem sie in diesem Opernhaus tätig war, sind 18 Jahren vergangen.

#morninglistening to ReneeFleming's #VierLetzteLieder w/ChristophEschenbach & the @housymphony on RCA. Gorgeousness of the sumptuous kind. A goodun!

Gegen Ende seines Lebens klingt Strauss anders.

I bought some music three years ago yesterday (1.6.23); the #VierLetzteLieder of #RichardStrauß are among my favorite & I'm working on "September" (piano part); here's the great #JessyeNorman singing it:

I woke up from a dream three years ago today (8.22.22) in which I referred to the Four Last Songs of #RichardStrauß as the '#VierLetzteLieder'; here's the great #JessyeNorman singing them with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig:

I just played through "September" — reminding of one of my fondest musical memories when I heard #KiriTeKanawa singing the #VierLetzteLieder of #RichardStrauß at Ravinia; here she's singing it on 6.17.90

If I were only allowed to listen to one piece of music ever again, this might well be it.

Good night, Mastodonians!

Throwback Thursday: I went up to #Ravinia many years ago to hear #KiriTeKanawa sing the #VierLetzteLieder of #RichardStrauß & it was one of the most memorable evenings of #music of my entire life: here's her "Beim Schlafengehen":

#morninglistening to one of the 4* reference-recordings of #VierLetzteLieder: LisaDellaCasa w/VPO & KarlBöhm on @deccaclassics from 1953. Plus scenes from operas.
Which are the 4 references? (Of which I don't like one but love 3)
