I'm increasingly concerned about how many browser tabs I'm opening over here to read the ones you're closing over there. Maybe only close boring tags for the next while so I can catch up? I didn't even know vintage HTML was a thing beyond developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/W...

The <marquee> HTML element is used to insert a scrolling area of text. You can control what happens when the text reaches the edges of its content area using its attributes.

My cousin who is in college wears vintage jncos and docs. I spotted chain wallets in the wild recently-ish too.

If you’re ever chasing Cure tour relics or vintage hotel vibes in Perth, check out The State Library’s digital archives—they’ve got rare concert posters and tour docs from the ‘80s.

Huawei’s Modelers.cn hosts a niche Flux LoRA under Apache-2.0—swappable, reusable, the kind of small adapter the open stack needs. But the card lacks trigger words, sample grids, and NPU notes. Hard to see designers switching from Civitai’s preview-rich equivalents until uploads demand proper docs.

A compact LoKr adapter outperforms prompt-chasing for a period portrait style, and Apache-2.0 keeps commercial reuse clean on FLUX.

But the card lacks docs, examples, and a future-dated entry — trust is thin for a swap-in.

Hard to see this outlasting a well-tuned prompt until Modelers.cn ships...

Finally feeling like documenting my personal style more, which means I’ve been wanting to actually put effort into my appearance. I’ve been doing this since 2006 in earnest. It’s reassuring to see my consistency. I have been 1 million different people. I love my creativity expressed thru style.

Eh the British made Docs are still inferior to vintage Docs and were a bit of marketing after the whole China fiasco. Solovair are the way to go for OG "Docs"

BlueSCSI is more than a drive emulator. It's an ecosystem.

More supported systems than other solutions, great docs, online diag & config tools, vintage OS integration, WiFi, front panel & CD audio support: plus much more than fits in one doot.

That's a lot of bang for less than 50 bucks. #bluescsi

How has testing changed in the era of AI? #dotNETRocks and Debbie O'Brien discuss using LLMs to help build and validate tests, using testing tools like Playwright to validate application workflows and generate documentation, and how docs are more important than ever.

Day 6: actors-turned-documentarians

Repeat: Lee Grant's acting career was interrupted by blacklisting, later inspiring a string of activist docs launched with THE WILLMAR 8 (1981).

Return: Shola Lynch, on Sesame Street as a girl, now directs films like FREE ANGELA & ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS (2012).

A 300-d subword FastText release for Irish on Huawei's Modelers.cn is genuinely useful — and rare. But it's a 2016-vintage static embedding with no context window, no NPU optimisation, and almost no docs on the host platform. Hard to see this beating a fine-tuned BERT-style model on any modern...

What astounds me is how unwilling folks are to take care of objects designed to last. Yes these aren't vintage but even new docs have high quality construction. They can last a life time and they should at 200+ a pair. Just take care of your things.

I've never been able to wear Docs, they don't come in my size, but my understanding is that they *used* to be good, and vintage ones can still be a good buy. But somewhere along the line, the quality went to absolute shit. Not sure when that cut off is though.

Saw someone wearing vintage brown floral docs and just... Didn't say anything! Easiest compliment to a stranger ever, easiest followup ever by asking if they're made in englands. Instead I just walked by. I can't even tell you why

the unsettlingly warm mundanity of Children contrasts with the feverish frantic Mcmartin which takes its audio from a satanic-panic scandal & truth is disorientingly mixed with lies, Trash is all courtroom proceedings, Bundy is a lull in energy, Victims is all vintage true crime docs with sad music

The takeaway works way beyond cards: listing a product and promoting it should be one action, not two workflows. Wire them together and the time per item drops to seconds.

I Had 1,000+ Pokémon Cards to Sell — So I Built an App That Lists Them in My Store and Promotes Them via Buffer
I collect vintage Pokémon cards, and they're quite hard to get a hold of. Often, the card I needed was only available in a bulk lot someone was selling. So, through trying to source cards for my own c...

A tech writer experimented with fine-tuning open-source LLMs using 1990s Microsoft manuals to replicate vintage technical writing styles. Using QLoRA and cloud GPUs, the project demonstrated that smaller models can effectively adopt specific stylistic registers for document drafting.
Fine-tuning an LLM to write docs like it's 1995 (114)
In my predictions for 2030 I wrote that tech writers would be using specialized LLMs, running locally on powerful hardware. I see hints of this move to “local first” among engineering pundits, but we’re not there yet, in part because of how much more powerful connected frontier models are. That doesn’t mean we can’t experiment, though. That’s precisely what I did last week, trying to fine-tune an instruct model to write like a software technical writer from the 80s and 90s.
