Yes, Weird did disappear — it was when he was supposed to be working on the third Vinterdracul album (which was going to be based on the life of Peter Cushing, the actor).

I think the first thing we worked on where it felt like it really clicked was the 3rd BWH album. In some ways that approach led to the song approach in Vinterdracul. I also pushed them to write some more noise rock / pop type stuff. Weird took that in sort of a goth direction.

BTW -- regarding that last Vinterdracul album. Weird told me that they had written out the sketches of a "final" album which would have been about Peter Cushing.
I have no idea whether he recorded any of it. I was working with him on both Murnau and the Lee Variations and never caught wind of it.
