Trump’s pardon of Jan 6 attackers corrupts the rule of law and rewrites history. These were not “hostages.” These were people who used brute force to commit vigilante violence.

This is the fundamental paradox of 'force' (the capacity for violence) as distinct from violence itself: once you deploy force - once you *do* the violence - you can no longer use the force as a threat.

It’s not a surprise that the man who purposely incited a violent attempt to overthrow an American election would now purposely incite violence on the streets of Los Angeles as a justification for military force against American citizens.

So much of ICE and CBP’s violence is just them doing the violence — no even pretense that they’re under threat or that force is justified. They’re using pepper spray and tear gas to express annoyance.
Tonight at 8:30 PM our constituent Ricky was pepper sprayed by ICE on 18th & Polk. 2 agents parked their car, got out and approached observers, started pepper spraying Ricky on public property, and then drove away and left.
Nothing is changing on the ground in Minnesota. ICE must be abolished.

Pretty clear at this point that the only thing they were worried that this force was going to work to prevent racist violence; an armed, federal, domestic police force that *enacts* racist violence? baby that's just a good time for a conservative.
What's wild is that, for much of the 80s and 90s, the very idea of a large, armed, federal domestic police force was exactly what many conservatives were most concerned about. They have just, like, changed their mind now.

The government is saying that violence rules. That snatching foreign leaders and territories, and shooting US citizens in their cars at point blank range, is justified. That resistance is not only futile, it is dangerous. They can say these things. But they cannot force us to believe them.
